Welcome to Smith Metropolitan AME Zion Church! A little over four years ago, God blessed me to lead this thriving congregation in the 14th Street and Zinn Park community in Anniston, AL. When you drive up to our parking lot, and enter our sanctuary doors, it is our sole purpose that you feel the presence of God and love of family. We are that church standing as a beacon of hope, welcoming all seeking God’s love. And, we believe that you will encounter a multigenerational worship experience whose sole intent is to “ Wins Souls, Makes Disciples, and, Transforms Lives”. Come join us in our mission. Our Sunday mornings are filled with energetic and spiritually impactful services. Smith Metropolitan is made up of people of all ages and from all walks of life including first-time church goers and those looking for a new church family.

Interested in joining us for worship? Below are more information of what to expect!

Are visitors asked to do anything?

We know finding a new church can be hard and intimidating. At Smith Metropolitan you will not be asked to make any speeches or introductions. We want you to come and worship without the concern of having to be put on the spot to say anything.
What do I wear?

You are welcome to come just as you are. You will see jeans and t-shirts, dresses, suits and ties, and everything in between. We believe that it’s the attitude of your heart that matters to God, rather than your physical appearance.
What will my children do during service?

Children are important to us! We have very active children and youth ministries. Each Sunday, we strive to provide lessons & activities that are tailored to engage their young minds.
What is the music like?

Our musical goal is to honor our past while also presenting fresh, new worship experiences through music. We do this by blending hymns and current worship music, with a contemporary perspective. We are committed to both a spirit of excellence and a spirit of worship in our music. Our hope is to create a life-altering, spirit-led environment that brings glory to God.
Where do I sit?

There are no assigned seats. You are welcome to sit anywhere in the worship areas. An usher will gladly help you find a seat if you wish.
